About LUPE Arte:
Latinas Unidas Por El Arte is an organization committed to supporting artists to thrive in their communities and beyond. The L.U.P.E. Arte project Niños y Arte centers on cultural-arts education and is a collaborative effort among AISD, Prime Time, business partners, and community leaders to provide positive after school programming to at-risk youth. The mission of the program inverts urban youth from gang activities by providing students with hands-on application of cultural art knowledge gained in their participation in course projects thus increasing their awareness in cultural diversities, increase in self-esteem, more determination to succeed, and pride in their sense of accomplishment. The Niños y Arte program is being used to affect at-risk youths, family, community, and school interaction positively while preserving cultural heritage through the production of art.
