Where We're Going
Our vision for the future is to see a more equitable and vibrant arts landscape where the contributions of all communities are celebrated and valued. We aim to expand our reach and deepen our impact by:
Expanding Programmatic Reach: We envision our successful models like Niños Y Arte, Mujeres Y Arte, and LAMP extending to more schools, communities, and even internationally, fostering creativity and cultural understanding on a larger scale.
Strengthening Artist Support: We aspire to provide even more comprehensive resources for artists, including expanded mentorship opportunities, increased exhibition and performance platforms, professional development workshops, and greater access to funding and production support.
Building Deeper Community Engagement: We aim to further integrate the arts into the fabric of our communities through more public art initiatives, collaborative projects with other organizations, and events that foster dialogue and cultural exchange.
Ensuring Long-Term Sustainability: We are committed to building a robust and sustainable financial foundation through diversified funding streams, including increased grants, individual and corporate sponsorships, and successful fundraising initiatives, ensuring our ability to serve artists and the community for generations to come.
Becoming a National Leader: We aspire to be recognized as a leading national voice in promoting the arts and culture of underrepresented communities, sharing our successful models and advocating for greater equity and inclusion within the arts sector.
How it Started
Our story began in 1998 in the heart of Austin, Texas, fueled by the passion and vision of a group of dedicated women artists and educators.
They recognized a vital need: to cultivate and amplify the voices of underrepresented communities within the arts, particularly Latinx individuals, women, and youth.
From these grassroots beginnings, LUPE Arte was born – a non-profit organization committed to providing a supportive ecosystem where diverse artists could flourish, express their unique perspectives, and connect with a wider audience.
